  • Entsuin Temple , located next to Zuiganji Temple, has been built in 1647 as the mausoleum “Sankeiden” for Date Masamune’s eldest grandson, Mitsumune. Its alter cabinet is adorned with roses, which were brought back from the West by Hasekura Tsunenaga, leader of the Keicho Embassy to Europe, as well as daffodils that symbolize Florence. Sankeiden is recognized as one of the finest examples of Date clan architecture, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship. It has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. Additionally, the main hall, known as Daihitei, and the temple gate are also classified as tangible cultural properties of Matsushima Town.
